Robert Charles Schwartz, age 94, died May 10,2016 at Genesis Hospital in Davenport. Funeral services will be held at Park View Lutheran Church in Eldridge on May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time. After a lunch at the church, burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland. Robert was one of six children and was born February 26, 1922 to Carl Johann Frederick Christian "Charles Schwartz" and Ida Henrietta Marie Mueller at home on a farm near Buena Vista, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church also in Buena Vista, in Clinton County Iowa. He graduated from Calamus High School in 1940 and Robert attended welding school, worked in Clinton, and farmed while his brothers were in the service. Robert married Betty Jane Homrighausen in Lost Nation, Iowa on November 20, 1943 and they were blessed with one son, Lee Robert Schwartz. Betty died on March 9, 2012. Robert served on multiple community boards; Hope Lutheran in Dixon, Bleidorn Lutheran, Parkview Lutheran Church, Welton School Board, PCA Director 1966-1978, and the Dixon Coop Elevator Board. He is survived by a son, Lee (Darla) of Emmetsburg; a granddaughter, Michelle (Michael) Webb of Spirit Lake; a grandson, Douglas (Courtney) of Spencer; three great-grandchildren, Sydney and Mia Schwartz and Morgan Webb; a brother, John Schwartz (Donna), sister, Judy Mumm and fiancée Herb Keuhl; sister-in-law Dorothy Schwartz; brother-in–laws, Ray Hudlick and Jr. Homrighausen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; step mother; two sisters; one brother; and his wife, Betty Schwartz.
