Aaron R. Lawrence, age 16, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Aaron was born June 30,1994, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Paul Lawrence and Julie (Fussell) Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wedesday, April 20,2011, at North Cedar High School Gymnasium in Stanwood with Rev. Barb Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery Mechanicsville. Visitation will be held at 3:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Mechanicsville United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church or the Aaron Lawrence Scholarship Fund. Aaron was a member of the church, paper carrier for the Cedar Rapids Gazette, and lifeguard for the Mount Vernon Pool. He was currently working at Koch's Sales & Service in Mechanicsville. While in high school, he was active in the choir, cross country, wrestling, basketball, golf, varsity football and varsity baseball. Aaron did a lot of volunteer work around the community and the church. He liked hanging out with his brothers, teasing Sadie and playing whatever sport was in season. Aaron also liked singing goofy songs. He is survived by parents Paul and Julie; 3 brothers: Joshua (Angela) of Altoona, Iowa, Jeremy( Kristina) of Waterloo, Iowa, and Ethan of Mechanicsville; girlfriend Sadie Holst of Lowden; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and Aaron's dog Molly. Aaron is preceded in death by all of his grandparents.
