Albert Bouchaute, age 91 of Wheatland, passed away on Thursday March 2, 2017 at Wheatland Manor. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 6, 2017 at 10:00 A.M at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Big Rock. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 5 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Albert was born on April 16, 1925, the son of August and Elizabeth (Vens) Bouchaute near New Liberty, Iowa. He graduated from Calamus High School in 1942. Albert married Laverne Etscheidt on February 10, 1955 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watkins.
Albert was a farmer near Lowden for 20 years. Albert and Laverne moved to Wheatland in 1975. He worked at P.W. Stankee Co. for many years before his retirement. Albert was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting pheasants and rabbits. He was very handy with wood working, and also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeye Basketball team and the St. Louis Cardinals. Albert loved playing horseshoes and had many ringers in his lifetime. He was a member of the Wheatland Wapsi Ringers Horseshoe Club for many years. Albert will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Judie (Dave) Carson and Janis (Jan) Muhl of Wheatland; son, John (Nancy) Bouchaute of Maquoketa; granddaughters, Jennifer (Matt) Heitland of Bainbridge Island, WA. and Jessica (Luke) Shelton of Calamus; two great grandsons, Brent and Caleb Shelton of Calamus; and step grandchildren, Dennis (Leigh) Carson of Cedar Rapids, Daryl (Julie) Carson of Ely, and Kim Clark of Maquoketa.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laverne on November 17, 2012; and sister and brother-in-law, Darleen and Rick Kaasbell of Chicago, Ill.
