Alice K. Schneider, age 93 of Wheatland, passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after complications of a fall. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday March 11, 2017 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with Rev. Mark Buck Officiating. Visitation will be at Chapman's in Wheatland on Friday March 10, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery with a meal to follow at the church.
Alice was born on February 18, 1924 at Dixon, Iowa to Emil and Alma Koch Lange. She married Theodore (Ted) Schneider on September 6, 1947 in Wheatland, Iowa. He passed on March 9, 1997.
Survivors include a son Steve (Lisa) Schneider of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Rita (David) Ireland of Edmonds, Washington; son-in-law Dennis (Deb) Wulf of Camanche; grandchildren Lisa (Brian) Rickertsen, Mark Wulf, Jesse (Amelia) Ireland, Jane (Justin) Goodwin, Sara and Gregory Schneider; great grandchildren Aleisha (Matt) Haag, Austin and Alex Rickertsen, Lyla and Lou Ireland, and Calvin Goodwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Anita Wulf; and brother, Wallace Lange.
Alice grew up on a farm near Dixon, Iowa. She graduated from Lowden High School in 1941. Alice and Ted farmed north of Wheatland and moved to town in 1975. She was in charge of the financial books at St. Paul's Cemetery for 30 years. Alice was a former school bus driver for Wheatland. She enjoyed volunteering, including at the Carroll Assistance Center, working at the Wheatland Wire, and was a voting poll worker. Alice also liked to play cards and was a great sheepshead and bridge player. She was an avid newspaper reader and gardener. Alice was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ along with the women's guild.
