Allen W. Syring, age 62 of Clarence, died Saturday February 18, 2017 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday February 23, 2017 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Pastor Tommi Boeder officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday February 22, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Chapman's in Clarence. Al was born to Wayne and Carol Rorick Syring on February 25, 1954 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Marcia Hormann on March 18, 1972 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence. Survivors include his wife Marcia; sons, Scott (Lisa) of Tipton and Stan (Heather) of Clarence; daughter, Lori (Dan) Nelson of Big Rock, Iowa; mother, Carol Syring of Clarence; brother, K.C. (Jill) Syring of Clarence; sister, Karen (Cliff) Klouda of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Kayla, Jenna and Cole Syring, and Connor and Cameron Nelson. Al enjoyed racing whether it would be local dirt racing or his trips to Michigan to watch NASCAR with Marcia. He participated in demolition derbies in his earlier years. He liked to relax at the cabin, scratch lottery tickets, casinos, driving semi or going to his grandkids' activities. He was preceded in death by his father.
