Ann Lund Gottschalk, age 97 of Lowden, passed away on Tuesday November 10, 2015 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 14, 2015 at 10:00 A.M at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden with Reverend Daniel Redhage officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M until service time at the church.
Ann was born on April 20, 1918 to William and Martha (Ricklef) Lund. She was raised on a farm outside of Massillon and attended country schools. She was a good student and even won the county spelling bee one year. She was united in marriage to Herman Gottschalk on September 3, 1937. He passed away in 2000. Ann cleaned houses and did washing and ironing for many people along with raising five children. She loved tending her flower gardens, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Donald (Deanna) of Olin; Phyllis St. John of Stanwood; Dennis (Elaine) of Cave City, AR; Steven Gottschalk of Lowden; Dwight (Connie) Gottschalk of Lowden; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Shirley Hansen of Cedar Rapids.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; brother, Kenneth Lund; son-in-law, Art St. John; great grandson, Blayne Benefield; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
