Arthur D. St. John, age 70, passed away Sunday February 24, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 28, 2013 at 10:30 A.M at the Stanwood Union Church with Pastor Phil Leipold officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 27, 2013 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Arthur was born on March 12, 1942 to Earl and Elsie (Stoecker) St. John in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Phyllis Gottschalk on November 25, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. Art enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, as well as his coffee time with his buddies at Ditto's and Petromart. He also loved antique tools and going to auctions. Art was a Truck Driver and a mechanic through life. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two sons, D. Scott (Amy) of Stanwood and Mike (Pam) of Stanwood; brothers, Jim (Pat) of Davenport, Joe of Clarence, John of Cedar Rapids, Tom (Teri) of Marion, and Elmer (Kate) of Clarence; sister, Barbara Klemme of Clarence; mother-in-law Ann Gottschalk of Clarence; and grandchildren Laura, Ryan, Jenny, Ethan, and Breylee St. John. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Herman Gottschalk.
