Benjamin A. Scheer, age 21, of Globe, Arizona, formerly of Lowden, Iowa, died September 1, 2007, when fatally injured in an industrial accident near Superior, Arizona. Benjamin was born December 16, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was baptized January 19, 1986 and confirmed April 19, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at 10:30 am at the Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Barbara Muhs officiating. Burial will follow at Lowden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, September 7, 2007, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Benjamin graduated on May 18, 2003 from North Cedar High School in Stanwood, Iowa after only 3 years. During high school he was involved in National Honor Society, Math Counts, Band, Belin-Blank Center for talented and gifted students at University of Iowa and Upward Bound at U.N.I. After high school he became an EMT and CPR training instructor. He enjoyed traveling and seeing the country while working many different occupations in numerous states. He loved the outdoors and especially the mountains where he was currently working as a core mine drilling helper. Best of all, when he came home, he loved all night card parties with his cousin and best friend Jeff, his uncle Big Dave and many other cousins and friends. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He will greatly missed by all that knew him.
Benjamin is survived by his mother Karla Scheer of Lowden; brother Matthew Scheer of Lowden; Aunt Lisa (Jeff) Decker of Lowden; Uncles: Doug (Beth) Scheer of Marion, Randy (Emelita) Scheer of West Branch, Mike (Joy) Scheer of Clarence, Steve (Janet) Scheer of Lowden, and Chris (Joan) Scheer of Lowden; his special Uncle Dave (Jeanne) Scheer of Wheatland; and step grandparents Russ and Ila Swearingen of Marion. He is also survived by loving cousins: Allison (Ryan) Deppe, Aaron, Jessica, Jeff, Adam, Erika, Megan, Amanda, Emily, Jenna, Anthony, Katrina, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Marissa, Jonathan, Sarah, and Connor Scheer
Benjamin was preceded in death by grandparents Dorance and Dorothy Scheer.
