Obituary

Berneita Riedesel, 89, of Wheatland, was reunited with her husband, Paul, Wednesday, January 19, 2011. She died peacefully while residing at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm, Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the Christian Free Lutheran Church, Wheatland, with Pastor Erik Swenson officiating. The family will greet friends from 4 pm until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Paul's cemetery, Wheatland, at a later date. Cremation was done by Chapman Funeral Home, Wheatland. Berneita was born March 8, 1921, in Union Grove, Illinois, to Henry and Henrietta Boelkens, with an older sister, Annaline. She moved to Wheatland to teach 3rd and 4th grades at Wheatland Community School in 1949. She soon married Paul R. Riedesel, and together raised three children on the family farm in Wheatland. Berneita served her community in many ways, but especially enjoyed playing the piano and organ at church, and for the villa and nursing home residents. She is survived by a son, Charles (Laureen) of Beatrice, Nebraska, and William (Gail) of Davenport; daughter, Peggy Baker of Wentzville, Missouri; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, and husband.
