Bernice M. Phillips, age 91, of Clarence, Iowa, died on April 17, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Bernice was born March 21, 1921, in Allison, IA to Henry Roelfs and Ella (Kammeyer) Roelfs. Bernice married Lloyd Phillips in 1941 at Waverly, IA. He died in 1986. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Pastor Lynn Butterbrodt officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Clarence Cemetery. Bernice was a member of the Methodist Church, a die hard Republican, and she loved her family particularly her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She is survived by 2 sons: Kirby (Gwendy) of Clarence, Steve (Mary) of LasCruces, NM; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Pauline) Roelf of Allison, IA. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and Son Glenn.
