Berniece Schnipkoweit, age 95, of Clarence, Iowa, died December 16, 2007, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton, Iowa after an extended illness. Berniece was born May 28, 1912, in Clarence to William and Emma (Horstman) Goldsmith. Berniece married Karl Schnipkoweit on December 6, 1934 in Clarence; he died on October 9, 1975.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 21, 2007, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, Iowa, with Pastor Lynn Butterbrodt officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Berniece had been head dietitian at Clarence Nursing Home before retiring in 1975. She was very active in scouting and was awarded the highest award, The Silver Beaver, in 1974. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, St. John's Church and quilting circle.
Berniece is survived by her son Paul and his wife Mary Alice of Lisbon, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.
