Blanche L. Burmeister, age 95, of Lowden, Iowa, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Blanche was born March 22, 1914, in rural Bennett, Iowa, to Otto Rixe and Mary Beuthien. Blanche married Norman Burmeister July 29, 1945, at Bennett. He died March 14, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Monday, November 9, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Blanche was a graduate of Bennett High School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of the Lowden Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and loved sewing and quilting. Blanche is survived by sons Carlin and LeRoy of Lowden; daughter Carlene (Joel) Kohlhoff of Corning; son LaMoyne (Sally) of Clarence; grandsons Jason (Jenn) Burmeister and Zach Kohlhoff; and great-granddaughter Emma Burmesiter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, brother Herb Rixe, and sister Bessie Schloemer.
