Carl Paul Ruprecht, age 90, of Lowden, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home in Wheatland, Iowa. Carl was born November 8, 1916, in Lowden, Iowa to Henry and Louise (Mente) Ruprecht. Carl married Jeanette Holdorf on June 10, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden.
Carl's body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in Iowa City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lowden Fire Department, Trinity Youth Group, IRIS (a radio reading information service for the blind) or Genesis Hospice.
Carl graduated from Lowden High School and attended the University of Iowa. He was a partner with his brothers in the family business; they owned and operated Ruprecht Lumber Company & Hardware Store and Lowden Fertilizer company. Carl was a member of the Lowden Lions, Lowden Commercial Club and Lowden Fire Department. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was active and served twenty-four years on the church council.\n \nCarl loved spending time at his and Jeanette's cabin on the Wapsie river where he enjoyed working in their timber and relaxing. He enjoyed watching college sports and was a Packers & Cardinals fan. Carl also loved being with all of his grandchildren and watching them participate in their many activities.
Carl is survived by his son Jeff (Judy) of Twin Falls, ID; daughters Martha (Joe) Mattes of Roswell, GA and Sally (Gene) Hess of Wheatland; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law June Wentworth of Wheatland and Ruth Ruprecht of Clarence; and many special nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, parents, six brothers and two sisters.
