Carolyn Ann Petersen, age 83, passed away on Saturday July 3, 2021 at Unity Point St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids. Memorial graveside services will be held at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona on Monday July 12 at 11:00 AM. Carolyn was born on December 12, 1937 in rural Washington County to Lester "Bud" and Mabel Hartsock Speas. She married Richard "Tony" Petersen on September 24, 1971 in Olin, Iowa. He passed away on June 6, 2006. Surviving Carolyn are her sons Kevin (Chris) Koob of Tipton and Kenneth (Amy) Koob of Stanwood; step daughter Deb (Steve) Heiken of Wyoming, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson; and brother Don. Carolyn had a love for the Hawkeyes, Cubs, Nascar, and cats. She was a great wife and mother, enjoyed family gatherings, and in her earlier years loved motorcycle trips with Tony. Memorials may be directed to the Tipton Ambulance.
