Charles A. "Manny" Nicely, age 82 of Wheatland, passed away at his son's home in Davenport on Sunday April 9, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Toronto on Friday April 14 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery in rural Wheatland. The family requests casual dress. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.

Manny was born July 29, 1940 in Erie, Illinois to Charles and Mary Caes Nicely. He married Kathy Vander Heiden on December 7, 1985 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Survivors include his wife Kathy; sons Scott (Jenny) of Davenport and Shane of Dixon, Iowa; daughter Ann (Chad) Breiner of Colorado Springs, CO; step son Daniel (Christi) Dickel of Wheatland; 6 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and siblings Karen Nicely of Davenport, Mary Ann (Kenneth) Mostaert of Lowden, and Mark (Karla) Nicely of Oxford Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet Pelley.

Manny was an avid Hawkeye, Bears, and White Sox fan. He liked to fish, hunt, and being outdoors. Manny was a man that would do anything for anybody. He was a hard worker, which included digging graves by hand for many years. Manny worked at Lowden Plumbing and Heating for close to 30 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or In Home Hospice Care.
