Charles "Chuck" Wagner, age 84, of Stanwood, Iowa, died at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, from complications of cancer, on October 9, 2010. Charles was born September 12, 1926, in Coon Rapids, Iowa, to Elmer 'Curly' and Iola (Brutche) Wagner. Charles married Hazel Ion Hearn on February 22, 1953. She passed away in 1959. He married Mary Florence Trejtnar on September 1962; they later divorced. He married Naomi Conway on April 7, 1990. A private celebration of life service will be held at Chapman Funeral Home Clarence with Pastor Ron Lashmit officiating. Following services his body will be cremated with inurnment at a later date. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Stanwood Fire Department or Stanwood Ambulance may be made. In his early years Chuck joined the military, returning to Iowa to farm and raise his family. He was a 4-H leader, Legion Member, and past church board member. He loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family and friends, and working at the "Co-op." He is survived by wife Naomi; 9 children, sons: Mike, Olin, Iowa; Dan, South Carolina; Chuck, Blairstown, Iowa; and Tony (Michelle), Mechanicsville, Iowa; daughters: Janet Toelle, Glen Burnie, Maryland; Arleen (Jeff) Moore, Harrah, Oklahoma; Adrianne (Dave) McAtee, Olin, Iowa; Mary (Glen) Henry, Palo, Iowa; and Verna (Steve Ihns) First, Stanwood, Iowa; 20 grandchildren: Amy, Michael, Luke, Logan, Cassie, Anthony, William, Lori, Kimberly, Cheri, Izaac, Calvin, Kelly, Katie, Austin, Tom, Cole, Jake, Ross, and Jessica; 11 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Katlyn, Alexis, Dustin, Elizabeth, Alix, Allie, Luke, Lane, Aubrey and Lexus; 1 brother Phillip, Muscatine, Iowa; 5 half-sisters: Wanda Brown, Ankeny, Iowa; Bev Allen, Carson City, Nevada; Alma Unruh, Mechanicsville, Iowa; Phyllis Wenndt and Louise (Tom) Bell, both of Stanwood. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Hazel, brothers Darrell and Duane, son-in-law Brad First, and granddaughters June and Laura.
