Charlotte Hess, age 95 of Lowden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 26, 2021. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Charlotte was born March 1, 1926 in Davenport to Adam and Pearl Karns Thurston. She was united in marriage to Victor Hess on September 19, 1945 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Davenport. He passed away on March 16, 2011. She is survived by her children; Vicki Carrico (Marty), Deanna Metzger (David), Gene Hess, Debbie Leuer (Curt), Richard Hess, and Jonelle Weber (Andy); 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; many brothers and sisters; and daughter in law Sally Hess. Charlotte had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during WWII. She farmed with her husband for nearly 50 years in Eastern Iowa, and enjoyed cooking, camping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
