Constance "Connie" Inman, 76, passed away on Sunday October 17, 2021 in Mechanicsville, IA after a ten-year fight with Interstitial Lung Disease. Visitation will be held on Friday October 22 from 4-7 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, IA. Rosary service will be at 7 PM. Funeral mass is scheduled for 10 AM on Saturday October 23, 2021 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville with Father Richard Okumu officiating. It will be immediately followed by a graveside burial ceremony at the Stanwood Cemetery. There will be a luncheon back at the church. Connie was born on January 3, 1945 in Fairfield, Iowa to Robert and Helen (Koontz) Hiatt. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1962 and went on to attend State College of Iowa (UNI) in Cedar Falls where she graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Connie married her college sweetheart, Gerald "Jerry" Inman, on October 2, 1965. Her lifelong passion was helping the children in the community. She went on to teach first grade at Lincoln Community School in Mechanicsville, IA for 33 years. Connie was a devoted member of the Stanwood Lions Club. As a Lion, she received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award, the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the G.E. "Bud" Klise Leadership Award, and multiple international presidential medals and certificates of appreciation. Her favorite project was Iowa KidSight, a Lions preschool vision screening program. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville. She was on the library board for the Stanwood Library for 39 years. Connie's final act of life was to give as she did in life in her death by giving her organs and tissue. Connie is survived by her husband, Jerry; her children, Joe (Becky) Inman of Ames and Amy (Alan) Heinen of Mechanicsville; grandchildren Alex Inman, Casey Inman (Ben Jacobs), Emily (Dillon) Dean, Rachel Heinen, and Megan Inman; and her brother, Roger Hiatt (Sandi Marley). She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Jean Fiedler Hiatt; and brother, William Hiatt. Memorials can be made to Iowa KidSight.
