D. Michael Claney, age 54, of Clarence, Iowa, died at his home from complication of diabetes Monday, September 7, 2009. Michael was born Sept. 14, 1954, in Cedar Rapids to Don M. and Dolores (Burrichter) Claney. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, September 9, at the Chapman Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials to Clarence Volunteer Fire Department. Mike had worked as assistant manager at True Value Hardware in Cedar Rapids. Michael is survived by his son Chad of Cedar Rapids; his parents Don and Dolores Claney of Clarence; sister Patricia(Douglas) Horton of Cedar Rapids; also surviving are 2 granddaughters.
