Dale Bixler, age 86, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Arbor Springs Care Center in West Des Moines, IA.

Dale was born in Clarence, IA on June 30, 1937 to Mearl and Dorothy (Kintzel) Bixler. He graduated from Clarence High School in 1956 and earned a degree in business from the University of Iowa in 1960. He met Sheryl Smith at the University of Iowa and they married in 1963. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on August 18th. Dale worked at the Federal Reserve Bank for 39 years, retiring in 1999. Dale and Sheryl raised their 2 children in Wheaton, IL. They moved to Huntley, IL (Del Webb Sun City) in 1999 until 2018 when they moved to a senior living community in Clive, IA.

Dale enjoyed his time at their condo on Lake Geneva, WI. He also enjoyed baseball (Cubs), the Iowa Hawkeyes, history, western movies, traveling, and times with friends and family.

Dale is survived by his wife, his two children: Jeffrey (Kim) of Incline Village, NV and Laura Henry (Matt) of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Tom, Samantha, and Ryan Bixler and Alli and Jenna Henry.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law (Jake and Ethel Smith), brother and sister-in-law (Merlyn and Carlene Bixler) along with friends and other family members.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 5 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, IA at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. Following the church service, there will be a brief graveside service at the Clarence Cemetery and a lunch at the church.
