Darriel W. Mayerhofer, 80, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at his home in Dixon, Iowa. Darriel was born on April 24, 1925, in Scott County, Iowa, to David and Augusta (Ganzer) Mayerhofer. Darriel Mayerhofer and Betty Jane Meyer were married in Calamus. Funeral services for Darriel W. Mayerhofer will be held Monday, April 17, 2006, at 10:00 AM at the Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Iowa. Burial will be at the Dixon Cemetery. Reverend Laird Keever will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 16, 2006 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Iowa. Darriel had farmed in the Big Rock area and drove truck for Les Johannsen for 22 years. Darriel also worked for Dubuque Pack for 19 years as a hog buyer. Darriel W. Mayerhofer is survived by his wife Betty Jane, daughters Rita Mayerhofer of Lowden and Jeanine Steines of Dixon, 3 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, his brother Glenn of New York and sisters Bernice Grau of Bennett, Delores Olsen of Broadhead Wisc., Elaine Peekenschneider of Bettendorf, and Barbara Riedesel of Orion, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and his son, Billy.
