David Carl Bixler, age 73 of Coralville, died unexpectedly on Thursday May 19, 2022 at his home. Memorial services will be held at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence on June 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ryan Roth-Klinck officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville. David was born December 31, 1948 in Cedar Rapids to Elmer and Lola (Thimmes) Bixler. He is survived by his sister Sharon Gutwiler of Stanwood; and niece and nephew families of Mike (Rhonda) Gutwiler, Linda (Dennis) Coppess, Janet Gutwiler, Kathy (Buck) Kelley, and Brian Gutwiler. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Patrick Gutwiler. David was a 1967 graduate of Lincoln Community High School in Stanwood and never married. He sold Kirby vacuum cleaners and drove a dump truck until he retired. David was a member of the Stanwood Union Church and was a collector of many unique and unusual things, often visiting the auctions at Sharpless.
