David R. "Buck" Buchanan, age 80 of Wheatland, passed away suddenly on Friday May 5, 2017. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at 10:30 A.M at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with Pastor Tessa Cavey officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 9 from 4-8 P.M at St. Paul's UCC in Wheatland. Dave was born on March 12, 1937 to Albert and Beulah (Muhl) Buchanan in Wheatland. He married Janyce Schneider on November 28, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. Dave was an outdoorsman who enjoyed nature, spending time at his cabin, or hunting with his lab. He enjoyed fishing, whether at his cabin, the river, or in Canada. Dave was a kind and helpful man who enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and his friends. He also served in the Army Reserves. He is survived by his wife, Janyce; son, Matthew (Lina) of Wheatland; daughter, Katy Buchanan of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Samantha, Alysha, Natasha, and Beckett Buchanan; brothers, Dean (Sandi) of Cook, MN and Don (Arlyne) of Grundy Center; and many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the St. Paul's UCC roofing project or Pine Hill Cemetery.
