Obituary

Deanna Rae Vens, 87, of Wheatland, IA, passed away November 27th, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2025 at 10:30 AM with Father Bob Cloos officiating at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Toronto, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Big Rock.

Deanna was born in Wheatland on June 9th, 1938, to Raymond and Mabel Lueth Endorf. She married Dean Vander Heiden on September 20, 1955. She farmed alongside her husband, and together they raised two sons, Dennis and Daniel, and two daughters, Debra and Diane.

Deanna enjoyed dancing, tractor pulls, bowling, traveling and wintering in Texas. She loved playing cards and dominos, gardening, and attending her grandchildren's events. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family.

After Dean's passing in 1980, Deanna married Richard Vens on October 11, 1992. He had four daughters - Vicky, Deborah, Shelley and Sheila - whom Deanna warmly welcomed into her life. Her strong faith in God guided her throughout her life. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Big Rock and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Toronto.

Deanna is survived by her children Dennis (Kimberly) Vander Heiden, Daniel (Jean) Vander Heiden, Deb (Dave) Lahann, and Diane (Russ) Jones; along with step children Vicky (William) Looney, Deborah Regan, Shelley Hesse, and Sheila Vens; grandchildren Michael (Angie) Vander Heiden, Mathew (Rachelle) Vander Heiden, Jennifer (Josh) Angus, Tammy (Mark) Tiedt, Stacy (Chris) Bates, Michelle (Adam) Densmore, Nicole (Allen) Phillips, Kelli (Dave) Hugo, Megan (Chris) Nicholson, Brittni (Michael) Harlson, and Brian (Cassidy) Jones; brothers-in-law John (Wanda) Vander Heiden and Tom (Karen) Vander Heiden; and sisters-in-law Regina Pewe and Kathy Nicely. She also has 47 great-grandchildren, two on the way, and one great-great grandchild.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; her sister, Beulah Endorf Deppe; her first husband, Dean; her second husband, Richard; her infant son, Dale Vander Heiden; her grandson, Mark; her great-grandson, Dylan; sister-in-law Sally Jacobsen and her husband Robin, and Janice Mortensen; brothers-in-law Galen Pewe and Manny Nicely; and step-son in-laws Mark Regan and William Hesse.

She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that her family will hold close forever. Her love, kindness, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
