Delbert Dean Coppess, age 83 of Stanwood, died Thursday April 29, 2021 at Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Monday May 3 at 10:30 A.M. at the Stanwood Union Church with Reverend Gary Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 2 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence from 4-6 P.M. Delbert was born on June 7, 1937 in Cedar County to Howard and Violet (Fairley) Coppess. Delbert led a troubled life because of pneumonia at an early age, but had good family care to help him through. He enjoyed playing pool and always made friends wherever he was. Delbert was a big Hawkeye fan, and really enjoyed going to Ditto's to eat and see old friends. He is survived by his brothers Dale (Darlene) of Mt. Vernon and Darrell (Joann) of Stanwood; sisters Darlene Flockhart and Deanna Schnipkoweit of Stanwood, and Doris (Richard) McAtee of Wyoming; brother-in-law Russell Rhoads; and numerous nieces & nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; brother Donald; sister Donna Lou Rhoads; sister-in-law LuAnn Coppess; and brother-in-law Robert Flockhart. The family would like to give special thanks to Hallmark Care Center, Essence of Life Hospice, Stanwood Union Church, and Chapman's for their care.
