Don M. Claney, age 88 of Clarence, passed away on Sunday April 3, 2016 at his home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence with Pastor Tommi Boeder officiating. Don was born on May 17, 1927 to Howard and Irene (Ehmke) Claney in Clarence. He married Dolores Burrichter on October 16, 1949 in Wheatland. Don was an Army WWII veteran and a member of the Clarence American Legion for 70 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and had a large bell collection. Don also had a sharpening business in Clarence for many years. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Patricia (Douglas) Horton of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Chad Claney and Lindsay Meade; 3 great grandchildren; and brother, Dean Claney of Clarence. Don was preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarence Volunteer Fire Department or the Clarence Library.
