Donald P. Becthold, age 79 of Wheatland, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday February 28, 2024. There will be a visitation at Chapman's in Clarence on Friday March 8 from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will also be at the funeral home on Saturday March 9 at 10:30 AM with Janet Shotwell officiating. Casual attire is requested for all services. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery.

Don was born March 21, 1944 in Mankato, Minnesota to Henry E. and Bertha E. (Anderson) Becthold. He was united in marriage to Delores Arends on March 21, 1964 to which his 3 girls were born. They later divorced. He married Sherri Miller and she passed away in 1995. Don was then married to Janet Stafford on April 26, 1997. She tragically passed away the day before Don.

Don's survivors include his daughters Dawn (Doug) Muench of Chandler, AZ, DeAnna Taylor of Lisbon, and Deb (Jeff) Wenndt of Clarence; granddaughters Becca Hulme, Jenel Klimesh, and Keegan Meyer; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Ray of Allison and Jim of Tipton; stepdaughter Amee and stepson James; and sisters-in-law Rhonda Poppe, Caroline Seeley, and Judy Burmahl.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 wives; granddaughter Nicole; and brother Wesley.

Don was known for his humor and work ethic. He grew up in Nashua, Iowa and then came to Clarence to work for Everette Bixler, then worked for Freightliner, and then for 50 years as a diesel mechanic for Peterbilt. He was a good hearted and intelligent man. No matter what time of the day it was, it was always "good morning" to Don. He had a love for 100 degree Pepsi, Tanqueray, and had 2 pipes on him at all times.

Don was able to give the gift of life through the Iowa Donor Network.
