Obituary

Donald R. Boettcher, age 87 of Lowden, passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center. Visitation will be held on Friday January 16, 2015 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Burial will be at a later date. Donald was born on June 14, 1927 to Henry and Emma (Schlueter) Boettcher in Wheatland, Iowa. He married Lois Saunders on February 19, 1950 in Lowden. She died July 21, 2006. Donald was a big Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved to play bingo. He worked at the Lowden Creamery until it closed and still had the last pound of butter made there. He then worked at Penny's Meat Market in Clarence until he retired. He is survived by his 3 sons, Duane (Robin) of Mechanicsville, David (Vickie) of Lowden and Devon of Lowden; 3 daughters, Donna Shannon of Baldwin, Ill., Deanna (Byron) Miller of Clarence and Debra (Greg) Bentrott of Lowden; grandchildren, Scott (Amber) Shannon of Baldwin, IL, Shane (Ashley) Shannon of Red Bud, IL, Stacy Shannon of Sparta, IL, Corey (Christina) Shannon of Fairview Heights, IL, Chaela (Nathan) Kinney of Fairview Heights, IL, Willie Bogle of Brocton, IL, Toby (Dawn) Boettcher of Wrightstown, WI, Tyler Vorwald of Stanwood, Gavin Vorwald of Cedar Rapids, Shaun (Robert) Edwards of Maquoketa, Jeremy (Bethany) Boettcher of Clarence, Travis (Hilary) Grimm of Marion, Tyler Grimm of Clarence, Annette (Chris) Reed of Center Point, Joe (Nicole) Miller of Denver, CO, Byron Miller Jr. of Clarence, Angela Miller of Stanwood, Joshua Bentrott of Lowden, and Stefani Bentrott (Austin McCall) of Lowden; great grandchildren, Nick, Cody, Bradley, Abbey, Lucas, and Ethan Shannon, Bradyn Cometto, Jack and Carly Kinney, Caleb, Gabrielle and Anikah Boettcher, Silas and Sullivan Grimm, and Zoe and Violet Miller. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Douglas; great grandson, Blayne; brother, Leroy; and son-in-law, Albert Shannon.
