Donald L. Finis, age 71, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. Donald was born in Davenport, Iowa, on February 13, 1938, to Ludwig and Ella (Dierksen) Finis. Donald married Evelyn Hennings on March 18, 1967, in Davenport. Don was a 1957 graduate of Wheatland High School. He served in the Navy and then farmed and worked as a painter. Don's favorite pastime was woodworking. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Burial in the Dixon Cemetery in Dixon, Iowa, will follow. Visition will be held from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Donald is survived by his wife Evelyn; son Kevin of Davenport; daughter Nancy (Mike) Bray of West Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren Austin and Alex; and sister Shirley (Dennis) Schilling of Rochester, Minnesota. Donald was proceeded in death by his parents.
