Donald Louis Latare, 87, of Maquoketa, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 , at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Friday October 19, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden. Burial will be held in Columbus, NE at a later date.\nDonald was born January 29, 1925 in Wyoming, Iowa, the son of Fred and Anna (Christopherson) Latare. He graduated from Wyoming High School. On July 12, 2003, he was united in marriage to Lois Jensen Latare in Nashua. \nDuring his life, Don was a long haul owner-operator truck driver and independent sales representative. He retired from Ag Leader Technology. Because of his work history Don was proud to have visited the 48 continental United States.
Don was a member of the United Church of Christ in Lowden and the Golden Age Eagle Club. His greatest pastime was playing bingo.
Don is survived by his wife, Lois Jensen Latare, a daughter, Sally Keating of Columbus, NE, four step-children, Sue (Jim) Jensen Isaacson of Anamosa, Alan (Laurie) Jensen of Ames, Judy (Bob) Jensen Tucker of Davenport, Mark (Mary) Jensen of Houston, TX, two grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren, two great grandchilden and seven step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Esther Schroeder of DeWitt and brother, Arnold (Mary) Latare of DesMoines as well as a son-in-law, several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Jensen Latare, daughter, Wendy Latare Schroeder, step great granddaughter, Grace, parents, Fred and Anna Latare, a brother, Harold Latare, and three brothers-in-law.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Camp Courageous or Hospice of Jackson County.
