Dorothea M. Kruckenberg, 95, of Lowden, Iowa, died Sunday, December 24, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dorothea was born February 19, 1911, to Werner and Marie (Koehne) Kruckenberg in rural Lowden. Funeral services for Dorothea Kruckenberg will be Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Dorothea lived her entire life on the farm north of Lowden. She was a great gardener and raised chickens so she could share produce and eggs with her many friends. She loved to go out for supper then play cards with family and friends. Dorothea is survived by sister-in-law Alma Kruckenberg of Lowden and a host of cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents and three brothers: Gerhart, Hugo, and Arthur.
