Dorothy E. Claney, age 91 of Clarence, passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at Unity Point Hospice, St. Lukes in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 24, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence at 10:30 A.M with Pastor Tommi Boeder officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence on Sunday October 23. Dorothy was born on January 9, 1925 to Fred and Louise (Hulse) Miller in Cedar Rapids. She married Arthur Claney on April 11, 1944 in Clarence. He died on January 24, 1999. Dorothy was a telephone operator at the Clarence Telephone Company for 48 years. She enjoyed cards, golf, and was on a bowling league well into her 80's. She is a member of the Clarence Legion Auxiliary and also St. John's United Church of Christ where she was a choir member for many years. She loved her dog and her family to the very end. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Gene) Koth of Clarence; 2 grandchildren, Colette (Dan) Sander and Aaron Koth of Clarence; 4 great grandchildren, Colin and Kayla Sander and Samantha and Benjamin Koth; brother, Robert Miller of Clarence; and sister, Donna Wulff of Clarence. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
