Dorothy M. Holtz, age 88, of Clarence, Iowa, died at Clarence Nursing Home on May 3, 2011. Dorothy was born August 25, 1922, in Bennett, Iowa, to Emil Conrad and Marie (Whitte) Conrad. Dorothy married Edward Holtz November 8, 1941 in Lowden. He died August 11, 1996. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at St. John's United Church Of Christ in Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at Lowden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, May 6, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Honorary pallbearers are her 18 great-grandchildren and her 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Doug Schroeder, Devin Schroeder, Bryan Schroeder, Jay Schroeder, Troy Paterson, Michelle Rivas and Bret Holtz. Dorothy was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Sunday Night Singles. She volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital from 1987 to 2002. She loved cooking and baking. Her life was devoted to her husband, children, and all of her grandchildren. She and Ed were also avid dancers. She is survived by son Joel and his wife Karen Long of Denver, CO; daughters Donna (Robert) Schroeder of Clarence, and Sheryl (Bill) Paterson of Indianola, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
