Dorothy Schroeder, age 87, of Wheatland, Iowa, died on January 21, 2012 at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Dorothy was born July 26, 1924, in Wheatland, Iowa to August Vens and Bertha (De Dobbleaere) Vens. Dorothy married Orville Schroeder on December 18, 1941 at Kohoka, MO. He died on May 28, 1991. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Eric Swenson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, January 23, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Dorothy and her husband farmed, and in early years and she loved to ride horses. She was a loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Dorothy was a member of the Free Christian Lutheran Church. She is survived by daughter Shirley Goodman of Wheatland; daughter-in-law Joyce Schroeder of Wheatland; grandchildren Jeff (Rachael) Schroeder of Ft.Myers, Fl, Andy (Amanda) Schroeder of Eldridge, and Sandy (Garrett) Guyer of Lost Nation; greatgrandchildren Logan, Amara, and Alyssa; brother Richard (Deanna) Vens of Wheatland; and sisters-in-law Peggy Vens of Wheatland and Ethel Bicknese of Lost Nation. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, son Wayne and brother Robert Vens.
