Dorothy L. Smith, age 88 of Lowden, passed away on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at Unity Point Hospice - St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids. Graveside services will be held on Saturday February 27, 2016 at 10:00 A.M at the Clarence Cemetery with Reverend Daniel Redhage officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday February 26 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Dorothy was born on September 24, 1927 to Elmer and Viola (Holst) Peitscher in Scott County, Iowa. She married Thomas G. Smith on May 3, 1947. He died in 1999. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, and traveling. Her and Tom used to enjoy collecting rocks in Arizona in the winter. She is survived by her son, Robert Smith of Lowden and granddaughter, Kari (Sean) McMann of Clarence. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, David; and daughter, Linda.
