Obituary

Dorothy Dean Wolfe, age 96 of Stanwood, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday July 7, 2025 at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. There will be a family graveside service at the Stanwood Cemetery per Dorothy's request.

Dorothy was born July 23, 1928 in Alpha, Iowa to Herbert and Helen (Goss) Boots. She married Edward Wolfe on October 28, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He passed away in 2005.

Dorothy is survived by her children Dean (Rita) Wolfe of Stanwood, Gloria Hunt of Anamosa, Patricia (David) Shultz of Cedar Rapids, and Jack (Arlene) of Yutan, NE; grandchildren Mark (Kathy) Hunt, Marty Hunt, Bob Meineke, Larry (Lori) Hunt, Bryan (Krystal) Wolfe, David (Rhonda) Shultz, Tracy Ramirez, Tammy Ettleman, Tom (Kari) Wolfe and Chris (Trish) Wolfe; 15 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 8 siblings; a grandson; a granddaughter; and 2 great grandchildren.

Known for speaking her mind and standing her ground. Her bold spirit was matched by her remarkable talents - especially her skill with a needle and thread. An avid quilter, she created countless beautiful pieces that warmed the homes and hearts of her family and friends.

Dorothy had a lifelong love of reading. She was also a gifted baker, renowned for her exquisite wedding cakes that became centerpieces of joyful celebrations. Her creativity extended to dollmaking, a hobby she turned into an art, crafting treasures that delighted children and collectors alike.

Family meant everything to Dorothy. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, sharing laughs, hugs, and stories. She and her husband spent many happy winters in Florida, enjoying sunshine, friendships, and a slower pace that still suited her vibrant life.

Dorothy's legacy is one of love, craft, honesty, and strength. She leaves behind a family who adored her, memories stitched into quilts, recipes passed down with care, and hearts forever warmed by her presence.
