Edna Schwien, age 96, of Clarence, Iowa, died Monday, February 18, 2008, at Clarence Nursing Home from complications of age. Edna was born November 22, 1911, in rural Clarence to William and Mary (Klatt) Schroeder. Edna married Hermann Schwien March 28, 1935 in Clarence. He died April 20, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 22, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Edna is survived by her daughter Marylin (Gary) Riedesel of Bennett; son Lavern (Karen) of Clarence; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Milda Geadelmann, brothers William, August, Elmer and Hugo.
