Edwin R. Decker, age 93, of Clarence, Iowa, died at Clarence Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Edwin was born February 7, 1917, in rural Clarence to Frank Decker and Ella (Gehrls) Decker. Edwin married Irene Meyer on March 23, 1940 at Clarence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 15, 2010, at St. John's United Church Of Christ in Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, November 14, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Ed was a retired farmer. He had served on the Clarence School Board, Dayton Creamery Board, Clarence Coop Board and the Iowa Institute of Cooperation. He also was a former council member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He is survived by wife Irene; daughter Phyllis (Robert) Hunwardsen of Clarence and son Edwin J. (Karilyn) Decker of Clarence; grandchildren Jeff (Lisa) Decker of Lowden, Lynn Butterbrodt of Clarence, Pam (Alice) Decker of Lowden and Mark (melody) Hunwardsen of Clarence; and 6 great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother Frederick.
