Waneva "Elaine" Long, 74 of Maquoketa died Friday, Nov.4, 2005 at the Maquoketa Care Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday Nov.8 at the Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Wheatland. Elaine was born May 6, 1931 in Sullivan County Missouri, the daughter of Othel and Edna Haggy. She was united in marriage to William Long on April 26, 1958. Elaine worked for many years as a seamstress, and teachers aid for the Wheatland School System. She volunteered her time and talents to many organizations. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and held many offices on a local, county and district level. She dearly loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Bill, of Maquoketa;son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Shelly of Wheatland, grandchildren, Jessica and Brady of Wheatland; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Barb Haggy of Trenton Missouri and sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Loren Johnston of Rogers, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother who died at birth.
