Ellen L. Behrens, age 99 formerly of Lowden and DeWitt, IA, passed away peacefully at home in Waynesville, MO on Tuesday November 16, 2021. Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence on Monday November 22 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kerri Sandusky officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 21 from 2-4 PM at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Ellen was the daughter of Frederick and Leafa Reaume Long and was born January 10, 1922 in Pontiac, MI. She was married to Erwin L. Behrens on November 12, 1943 in Clarence, IA and two children were born to this marriage, Rodney and Linda. Erwin passed away on June 29, 1984.
She is survived by son Rodney Behrens of Lowden; grandchildren Michelle Meyer Danielsen of Waynesville, MO, Brooke (Aaron) Scarbrough of Chesapeake, VA; and Jeromy Birchfield of Waynesville, MO; great grandchildren Macalah Danielsen, AJ Scarbrough, Aubrey Scarbrough, Dallas Birchfield, and Colton Birchfield; all were blessed to have known and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: brother Earl; and beloved daughter Linda Birchfield.
Ellen lived her life to the fullest and loved her family more than anything. Just shy of 100 years old she lived out her final days being cared for with family by her side. She was a member of St. John's UCC in Clarence, had a successful career working for United Telephone Company, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary post 366 of Lowden.
