Elmer Von Roden, age 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died at Northbrook Manor Care, Cedar Rapids on April 10, 2010. Elmer was born May 29, 1913, in Lowden, Iowa, to Henry and Meta (Dryer) Von Roden. Elmer married Erma Usher on September 18, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1986. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa. Burial will follow at Lowden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, April 12, at the Funeral Home. Elmer is survived by daughter Marge Erickson of Osseo, Wisconsin, and a son Robert (Terry) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Daniel (Linell) Eaton of Studio City, California, Jeremy (Lynn) Eaton of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Sara Von Roden, Lisa (Corey) Shipman and Bryan Von Roden all of Cedar Rapids; great grandchildren: Miles, Nicholas, Alexander and Elaina Eaton of Chanhassen; Madeline, Charles and Grace Eaton of Studio City; Jaxson Shipman and Elliotte Grace Von Roden of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 half brothers.
