Elmer A. Wenndt, age 96 of Wheatland, passed away on Thursday June 15, 2017 at St. Luke's Unity Point Hospice in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 20 at 10:30 A.M at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden with Reverend Daniel Redhage officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday June 19 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Elmer was born on March 2, 1921 in rural Lowden to Henry and Ella (Klahn) Wenndt. He married Henrietta Kroeger on March 2, 1949 in Davenport. She passed away on January 16, 2012.
Elmer loved to farm and help others farm. He was proud to donate blood at the age of 94 and was also proud to be able to drive to do what he wanted at the age of 96. He loved his family, was an honest man, and had a great memory.
Elmer is survived by his sons, Doug & Ron of Wheatland; daughter, Lorna (Rory) Dewell of Clarence; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Raymond (Joan) Kroeger of Davenport; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Kroeger of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and daughter, Carol.
