Elwood "Woody" Fuelling, 85, of Wheatland, Iowa entered eternal rest on May 31, 2008, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Woody was born on April 25, 1923, in Farmersburg, Iowa, to Milo and Elvera (Wahl) Fuelling. Woody and Bernice Mae Burrichter were married on February 6, 1949, in Wheatland, Iowa.
Woody graduated from Guttenberg High School and later attended A.I.C. in Davenport. He served in the Navy as a Navy Seaman during World War II during Iwo Jima. He farmed his entire life north of Wheatland and retired in 1991 then moving to town.
Funeral services for Woody Fuelling will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with Reverend Laird Keever officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul's Church Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Church in Wheatland.
Woody is survived by his wife of 59 years Bernice; daughters Kaye (Leonard) Burke of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Karen (Tom) Vander Heiden of Wheatland; sister Eldora (Duane) Duwe of Guttenberg; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
