Obituary

Emogene V. Ford, age 91 of Lowden, left her earthly life on Thursday August 9, 2018 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Emogene was born in Cedar County on June 26, 1927 to Bernhardt and Nellie Stuehm. She married her Tipton High School sweetheart, Wallace Ford, on March 23, 1946. Together they started a long and productive farming life in the Lowden and Tipton areas. They raised a variety of crops and animals. Emogene had beautiful, bountiful flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed canning and freezing produce. Emogene also loved to cook and bake; she loved to try new recipes. Her culinary outcomes were shared with family and friends. She also loved to do needlework and read. Emogene was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden. Emogene is survived by her daughters, Merry A. Ford Smith (Craig) and Vicky Harland; grandchildren, Stacey (Randy) Hennings, Roseanna (Josh Westfall) Smith, Matthew Smith, and Joshua Harland; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; son, Dennis Ford; and sister, Sharolyn Perry. Memorials may be made to a favorite public library or Camp Courageous.
