Erwin L. Lehrman, age 96, of Stanwood, Iowa, died April 1, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital-Cedar Rapids. Erwin was born February 4, 1914, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Herman and Anna (Luedman) Lehrman. Erwin married Violet Reinking March 20, 1938, at Ireton, Iowa. She died January 14, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, Iowa, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, April 2, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Stanwood or Tipton Ambulance.
Erwin and Violet farmed 38 years southwest of Stanwood, and he was awarded the 1957 Master Swine Producer award. After retirement they moved to Stanwood. Erwin had been a resident of Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton the past 3 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Church and the Gideon's. Erwin spoke of his faith in Christ Jesus to everyone he met. A special thank you to Dr. Pope and staff, Dr. Hlavin, St. Lukes 5 center staff, and everyone at Prairie Hills.
He is survived by his daughters: Karen (Richard) Hass of Cedar Rapids; Sandra (Wally) Jennings of Davenport; Roma (David) Panther of Coralville; Lana ( Russell) Dettbarn of Blue Grass; brothers: Merle (Maxine) and Frederick (Marge), both of Stanwood; sister Eloise Wood of Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 20-great grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Erwin was preceded in death by parents, wife, sister Pauline and brother Louis.
