Erwin C. Wenndt, age 97, of Lowden, Iowa, died February 27, 2010, at the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Erwin was born May 1, 1912, in Rural Lowden to Herman Wenndt and Louise (Kroemer) Wenndt. Erwin married Lenora Busch December 7, 1938, in Davenport. She died October 25, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, March 1, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Erwin farmed near Lowden his entire life until he retired in 1980. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on the building committee, trustee, and cemetery board. He also was director and agent for Wheatland Mutual Insurance Association for many years. He is survived by a daughter-Donna (Dave) Sander of Lowden and son Dennis of Lowden; 5 grandchildren-Doug (Sara) Sander of Moline, Illinois, Dan (Colette) Sander of Clarence, Dean (Kelly) Sander of Clarence, Phillip (Melissa) Wenndt of Cedar Rapids, and Marcia Jackson of Cedar rapids. Also surviving are 12 great-grandchildren. Erwin was preceded in death by parents, wife, 5 brothers and 5 sisters, and a great grandchild, Dean Jacob Sander.
