Ethel L. Miller, age 90, of Tipton, Iowa, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident for nearly 16 years. Ethel was born Jan 15, 1917, in Grafton, Iowa to Fred and Anna (Pasch) Mess.
Ethel married Dale Miller on Nov 18, 1938. They met in 1937 when Ethel worked at Lehi's Cafe in Clarence and Dale came in for coffee. Ethel assisted Dale on their farm and was a homemaker. Dale preceded her in death in 2000. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Zion Church Quilters Club, and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and especially playing cards.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at First United Church of Christ in Tipton, Iowa, with Reverend David Lorenzen officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's cemetery in Clarence. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the service time at the church on Thursday.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Adeline Mess; husband; three brothers, Walter, Herbert and Leroy Mess; and sister, Mildred. Ethel was survived by son, Elon (Marcine) Mess of Oxford Junction; daughters Darla (Lee) Schwartz of Emmetsburg; and Marcia (Nelson) Meyers of Tipton; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren; as well as her sister, Harriet (Wes) Schroeder of Clinton.
