Florence Bethurum, 101, of Dixon, Iowa died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home in Wheatland, Iowa. Florence was born on March 4, 1905, in Big Rock, Iowa, to Grover and Bertha (Homrighausen) Horstmann. Florence married Edward Bethurum on March 2, 1940; Edward died in 1970. Florence served as organist for 75 years at Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Funeral services for Florence Bethurum will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Big Rock, Iowa with pastor Barbara Keiper officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery at Wheatland, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday night from 5:00-7:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Florence is survived by her sister Bernadine (Lester) Peckenschneider of New Liberty, her brothers: Woodrow Horstmann of Big Rock and Kenneth (Helen) Horstmann of Bennett, and 6 nieces and 3 nephews. Florence was a very special Aunt to all her neices and nephews. Florence was proceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 brothers: Grover, Elmer, and Norman Horstmann and 2 nephews.
