Florence C. Bachman, age 100, of Clarence, Iowa, died on December 18, 2010 at Clarence Nursing Home. Florence was born October 23, 1910, in Princeton, Iowa, to George Heldt and Emma (LeGrand) Heldt. Florence married Fred Bachman in August of 1940; he died in 1985.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Clarence United Methodist Church, with Pastor Carol Mart officiating. An inurnment will be held at Clarence Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. till service time on Wednesday, December 22. Arrangements are with Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Memorials go to Alzeimers Association.
Florence was active in many social organizations in her life and was named Cedar County Outstanding Citizen in 1980. She was a lifelong member and always involved in the Clarence United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter: Joyce Kastler of Davenport; a son: William (Karen) Bachman of Clarence; two step-daughters: Shirley (Dale) Stollsteimer of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Corrine (Ron) Atkins of Clarence; a step-son Donald Bachman of Davenport; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, one brother, and one sister.
