Francis Joseph Crock, 93, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center. Francis was born at home near Mechanicsville to Leo Crock and Winnifred (Merrit) Crock. He graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1935. In 1938 he married Bessie Wethington of Tipton, Iowa. \n \nVisitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Francis and Bessie had 3 children; Jeanette, James, and Duane. Francis spent his life farming north of Mechanicsville. Francis loved his faith, family, and farming. His wit and humor brought joy to friends. He didn't know how to complain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Mercy in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Jeanette Bagley of Indianapolis, and Duane (Judy) Crock of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Rose Walshire of Mechanicsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie; son James; and daughter-in-law Della.\n
